Layer 02 - The Characters Yomoda Chisa Yomoda Chisa is the young girl in Lain's class who commits suicide in the first episode. She contacts several classmates through e-mail telling them she only abandoned her flesh and is still alive in the Wired. She never openly answers Lain's question of 'why she died' but instead replied that God was there. She seemed to be very unhappy with the way she lived in the Real world, saying she didn't have to stay in a place like that. Honestly feeling she was better off dead. She was most likely also depressed, which helped her idea of 'suicide'. She felt it didn't matter one way or the other whether she lived in the Real world or not. SPOILERS Later in the series Lain is talking with Chisa and the boy who killed himself at Cyberia. He says dying is easy, Chisa says it is not. It seems she really did have other problems. It's not that she thinks dying was the best choice for everyone, but she truly felt so unloved, and unneeded that she could die without being cared about. And actually it didn't take long for everyone to get over her death, Juri was only crying because she was frightened by the idea of being e-mailed by a dead girl. <<Return
