Layer 02 - The Characters Iwakura Miho Iwakura Miho is Lain's mother whom she calls 'mama'. She is a traditional at-home-mom whose job is to keep the home well taken care of. She seems rather despondent, especially to Lain. She is usually shown eating or kissing her husband, Lain's father - Yasuo. There was one time she 'spoke' to Lain about the Wired in some wired daydream Lain had in class. Otherwise she doesn't seem close to either daughter. SPOILERS Lain's mother is not actually her mother at all. She's mostly an actress or Yousa's wife, but not Lain (and doubtfully Mika's) mother. Like mentioned in Yasuo's profile, Lain was created to balance Eiri's power in the Wired. So she has no true family. This family system was a charade to keep up the 'normal' life she was supposed to have. When the purpose of the family was spent, they left her. It's a curious thought that perhaps the family did not even sleep in the house Lain lived in since she could not find them after the shooting at Cyberia Cafe. <<Return
