Layer 02 - The Characters Iwakura Yasuo Iwakura Yasuo is Lain's father whom she calls 'papa'. He works for a company called Tachibana labs and is thoroughly fascinated by Navi's and the Wired. He seemed fine (almost amused) with Lain's sudden interest in getting a new Navi, though he did question her. But when she wouldn't let him wait to install it, the looks of hesitation began. He realized all too late just how deep Lain was getting. When he found her inthralled with the Wired one night she smiled (uncustomary for her) and assured him with a cheeful tone, "I'm still me." He eyed her a moment before replying, "Sometimes I wonder." SPOILERS Lain's father is actually not her father at all. Tachibana labs created Lain to balance out Masami Eiri's power in the wired where he connected with no devices. Though before he left, when Lain had gotten herself so far into the situation of the blurring between the Real and Wired, he said he did not like being a pretend family and did think he loved her. But he then left her alone.. although he said she could never be truly alone. She had the Wired. <<Return
